Reformer Pilates in Riyadh: A Complete Beginner's Guide
Published
If you have been curious about Reformer Pilates but felt unsure where to begin, you are in exactly the right place. This guide walks you through everything a first-timer needs to know, from how the reformer machine actually works to booking your very first class. At our women-only Pilates studio in Riyadh, we welcome complete beginners every single week, so take a breath: you do not need any experience to start.
What Is Reformer Pilates?
Reformer Pilates is a form of Pilates performed on a specialised piece of equipment called the reformer machine. Instead of working out on a flat mat, you move on a sliding carriage connected to a system of springs, straps, and a footbar. The springs create adjustable resistance, which means the machine can make a movement gentler or more challenging depending on your level.
The beauty of the reformer is its versatility. The same machine that supports a complete beginner can also push a seasoned athlete. It builds long, strong muscles, improves posture, and develops the deep core stability that protects your back and supports everyday movement. Because the resistance is smooth and controlled, Reformer Pilates is famously low-impact and easy on the joints, making it ideal for women at almost any fitness level.
Why Choose a Women-Only Pilates Studio in Riyadh?
For many women in Riyadh, training in a calm, private, women-only space is what finally makes movement feel comfortable and sustainable. - Build confidence on the reformer machine before progressing to more dynamic classes
- Be part of a community of women working toward similar goals
Our Classes Explained
Every class at our studio runs for 50 minutes, and we offer a range of formats so you can grow over time. Here is what each one involves:
Foundation
This is where every new member begins. The Foundation class is a required introduction to the reformer machine for all new members. You will learn how the machine works, how to set the springs, the key safety points, and the fundamental movements that everything else builds on. Think of it as the essential first step that makes every future class safer and more effective.
Beginners Reformer
Once you have your Foundation under your belt, the Beginners Reformer class helps you build strength, control, and confidence at a comfortable pace.
Intermediate Reformer
As you progress, the Intermediate Reformer introduces more challenging sequences and flows for those ready to deepen their practice.
Jump Reformer
A high-intensity, cardio-focused class performed on the reformer. It is energetic and fun, but please note it is not suitable if you are pregnant or recovering from injury.
Chairs & Barrels
This class uses the Wunda Chair and Ladder Barrel to target strength, mobility, and alignment from new angles.
Cadillac Mix
A class built around the Cadillac tower, offering a unique blend of support and challenge for the whole body.
You can see the full schedule and descriptions on our classes page.
What to Expect in Your First Class
Walking into something new can feel a little nerve-wracking, so here is exactly what your first visit looks like. You will start with the Foundation class, where your instructor guides you through the reformer step by step. Nothing is rushed. You will learn at a pace that suits you, and questions are always welcome.
A few practical notes to put your mind at ease:
- Grip socks are required, and they are provided with your membership, so you do not need to buy your own to start.
- A towel and water are provided, so simply arrive in comfortable clothing you can move in.
- Classes are open to ages 16 and above.
- Arrive a few minutes early so you can settle in and meet your instructor.
How Often Should You Practise?
One of the most common questions from beginners is how frequently to come. For steady, visible results, we recommend 2 to 3 sessions per week. This rhythm gives your body enough stimulus to build strength and improve mobility, while still allowing time to recover between sessions.
Consistency matters far more than intensity, especially at the start. If you want a deeper look at progress and timelines, read our guide on how often you should do Pilates to see results.
